Be inspired as you explore the ancient mountainous valleys, lakes, and rivers of Snowdonia, to the tranquility and coastal Idyll of the Isle of Anglesey.
North Wales offers you a breathtaking experience whether that be to pump up the heart rate or to seek out peace, healing, and solace.
For outdoor enthusiasts, creatives... and lovers of spectacular scenery.
The Village of Beddgelert
Beddgelert is one of beautiful Snowdonia’s premier villages. Nestled between mountains it has spectacular walks straight from the village following the river Glaslyn as it forges its way past ‘Gelert's Grave’, through the spectacular Aberglaslyn pass.
Amble along to the nearby two idyllic lakes Llyn Dinas and Llyn Gwynant and the old copper mine workings of Sygun and Cwm Bychan. Adventure up one of the surrounding mountains including Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales at 1085m, and several of the routes start near Beddgelert.
Or wander into Beddgelert Forest for walking, biking, picnicking, and camping.
Hop on a Welsh Highland Railway steam train at the village station and see some of the spectacular scenery along the routes to Porthmadog and Caernarfon. The nearest beach is about 20 minutes drive away from the mountains at Black Rock Sands and Borth y Gest and boast some breathtaking expanses. And if high octane is your thing then Zip World and the Rib rides offer world-class exhilarating adventures.
The village is small but vibrant with a well-stocked village shop, several pubs, a bistro, a pizzeria, an ice cream parlour, coffee shops, and cafés. There is a tourist information office and several gift shops including Beddgelert Woodcraft.
Some of our Favourite Things
Caernarfon Castle & Conwy Tudor House
Caernarfon Castle is recognised around the world as one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages. This fortress-palace on the banks of the River Seiont is grouped with Edward I’s other castles at Conwy, Beaumaris and Harlech as a World Heritage Site. But for sheer scale and architectural drama, Caernarfon stands alone.
And then onto CaerPlas Mawr, Conwy, an architectural gem and the finest surviving townhouse of the Elizabethan era anywhere in Britain. Complete with a reconstructed period-furnished interior and courtyard garden. We stumbled across this after visiting Conwy castle... an absolute find!
Snowdon & Cafe Gwynant
Climb the highest point in the British Isles outside of the Scottish highlands. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Dress accordingly and expect all weather. One April we enjoyed beautiful hot sunshine, and rain and even had a snowball fight on the summit!
And then visit Café Gwynant for exceptional home-cooked food using locally sourced ingredients, in a beautiful setting at the base of the Watkin Path.
Adventure 1085 & Summit to Savour
The friendly team at 1085 Adventures is all about the freedom to explore places less travelled, be it for a few hours or multi-day trips either self-guided or with one of the experienced local guides either hiking, biking or paddling.
Summit to Savour offers similar packages and includes gorge walking and mouth-watering picnics too.
Zip World & Underground
Zip World offers unique and exhilarating adventures below and above the ground. Watch a video of this amazing experience here.
Menai Bridge Rib Ride
The boat trips offered by Rib Ride in Menai Bridge, Anglesey, are absolutely worth every penny. ADVENTURE in the Menai Strait or join an explorer tour to the islands and high cliffs of Holyhead. VELOCITY is the fastest RIB. ‘Zero to the speed of scream’.
